Drug Free Installation of the Trackpack
At the 2006 NAFA Field Meet held in Kearney NE, Marshall Radio sponsored nightly training sessions on the installation of Trackpacks. Mark Williams of Canada, and Michael Garcia of Illinois both have extensive experience installing backpacks on falcons and hawks, but without using sedatives. Many people are reluctant to use any sedatives with their birds and so these nightly demonstrations attracted large groups. Materials were provided free of charge for anyone wanting to try a TrackPack mounting method on their birds.
Falconer's Fair 2009, England
Each year, Marshall Radio attends the Falconry Fair, now in it's 15th year.
Vendors of equipment, trainers and entertainers, country clothing trade stands, falconers and the public all converge on this two-day event each spring.
Attendees come from all over the UK and Europe to see and compare new hoods, try on gloves, see and decide on new artwork, books and other equipment. And of course, see what's new with telemetry.
NAFA Field Meet, November 2008
The annual Field Meet of the North American Falconers Association was held in Texas and hosted by the Texas Hawking Association. Marshall Radio attended again this year in order to see old customers, meet new ones and continue the demonstrations of how to install Trackpacks. The Meet Head Quarters were moved to a new hotel venue in the city of Amarillo that included a very large weathering area and improved hotel facilities.
Most photos in this slide show were taken by Garrett Smith, who's Photography page is here. Additional images have been generously supplied by Mark Williams, NAFA Director from Canada, whose photography is now rivaling the best of the best.
Sage Grouse Hawking 2008
Hunting the North American Sage Grouse with Steve Chindgren
Steve's Lodge, aka "House of Grouse," is located in Farson, Wyoming. It's here that friends and pilgrims from around the world come to see the formidable Sage Grouse Hawking that has been pursued for twenty years.
Located in central Wyoming, the area has the largest numbers of grouse combined with vast areas of open Public Lands that are as yet undeveloped by oil & gas companies.
South Africa Field Meet 2008
South African Falconry Association hosts the International Falconry Association Annual General Meeting
Marshall Radio was invited to attend the South African Falconry Association Field Meet, held in conjunction with the IAF gathering of delegates this year, making it quite a unique event.
The Meet location was in a remote area with vast open grasslands, using the Protea Hotel Black Mountain Resort as the Meet Head Quarters. This was an area of higher elevation, that in centuries past had populations of large game animals now hunted out, and where several 'old-timer falconers' come each season to camp and hawk in ideal conditions for what they are chasing.
Texas Hawking Association Field Meet, January 2008
Having never attended a Texas Field Meet in the past, we accepted the invitation to go this year, having heard so many good things about this energized state club. And since Steve Chindgren was invited to be the Keynote Speaker at the Banquet, we decided to caravan down to the warm sun in Texas from cold gray winter in Utah, together.
