Description

Evolution in Design
The Signal Sensor is a compact, wide-band micro receiver designed by Radio Expert Ron Kumetz to sense the operation of Marshall Radio Telemetry transmitters at very close range. Any transmitter with a magnetic switch may be turned on and off with the Signal Sensor’s internal magnet while simultaneously hearing the signal and seeing it with a flashing LED for single-step, one handed operation.

By pressing and holding the on switch, you’ll hear and see two quick beeps followed by silence if no operating transmitter is near. But bring it into proximity to a running transmitter and you’ll hear it it running, see the LED blink with every pulse. Touch the device to the transmitter as shown in this image, and you’ll hear the five rapid beeps of the mag switch shutting down, followed by silence.

This handy little device is available from us in one color (“Marshall gray”), but the same product can be purchased in different colors as the “Signal Finder” through Western Sporting.

FAQ
Can I use the Signal Sensor instead of a tracking receiver?

You can use the Signal Sensor to detect if a transmitter is running, at very close range. But there’s no direction finding capability. The Signal Sensor was created to make the convenience of the magnetic switch on your Marshall Radio transmitters even more convenient, by not requiring you to open up, turn on your tracking receiver and tune in the signal just to listen for the transmitter when using the magnet to turn it off. With the Signal Sensor, it’s all there in your hand (magnet, detection, sound) so the receiver can stay stowed in its holster in the truck after the flight.

How does this compare to other transmitter testers out there?

It’s primary advantage is that it is much less bulky than the two box designs shown here. By comparison, it is micro sized and its extremely light weight gives you a very usable device to have in the field, either using the lanyard around your neck or connected to a hawking vest.

Also, the battery used is the extremely common and easy to find CR 2032 coin cell 3v lithium.

Last but not least, it’s only one half to one third the cost of the bigger boxes!
